Non-return valve RSP
The non-return valve (RSP) usually consists of three parts and is located at the end of the screw. The screw tip, the lantern ring and the thrust ring. The screw clearance is the distance between the lantern piece and the barrel. The non-return valve prevents backflow of the melt volume from the melt back into the screw flight during injection and holding pressure. The screw thus serves as a piston. The locking ring is located in front of the thrust ring on the tip of the screw. During dosing, the lantern ring is pressed against the screw tip. This creates a gap between the lantern ring and the pressure ring through which the melt can flow. During injection, the lantern ring presses against the pressure ring so that the screw flights are closed. There are many different designs of non-return valves and different temperings (wear-resistant and highly wear-resistant), depending on the abrasiveness of the material used
